If the UN was to ever become the world government a reform would be needed to eliminate the permanent members and there veto powers.
the UN as a singular world power makes it it's own country and this entity would exist within the US' borders which would make it an invading force instantly if the US did not agree with it being here for some reason. Childish reasoning I know but have you seen what the US has done in the past out of spite?

well for starters, regardless of how divided the US nation can get at times relating to politics and beliefs, theres one area that always brings us back together and bring peoples patriotic feelings out front.

and that area is infringement upon american liberties and assaults on the way of life in the US. There are aspects of the UN that would go directly against the US constitution that , in my belief, a majority of Americans would be strongly against seeing implemented.

A one world government as neat as it may sound is politically impossible, there are elements of world powers that are too diverse for there to be one clear government style. The UN has never truly been a governing body, its always been there as more of an advisor and mediator. they dont have the structure to govern 3 billion people of radically different beliefs and opinions.

The UN has no backbone, time and time again countries that have had mandates pressed upon them by the UN have flaunted them with absolute disregard for the consequences, the consequences that are rarely enforced.

As a advisor board or a mediator in disputes the UN works great, as a governing body that must implement and enforce law and order over 3 billion + people of every type is absolute ludicracy.

You know why the US volunteered to put it in it's borders right? It ws to keep tabs on everyone else and to always have the upper hand in matters within.

The UN is a strategic move and not created out of any actual concern for world politics. It was created by our allies and the rest of the world was convinced to join it through various tactics. It is not the safe neutral discussion place you think it is by any means.

I see it as

-Excellent Idea after WW2
-I think it does a good job with situations that need involvement without looking belligerent

:ts:

every time some dictator screams that the UN is nothing more than a puppet of the US......there is some merit to that. granted its not that extreme, but the US and its core allies def hold a majority of the control of the UN.

why you think we do shit internationally without even worrying about what the UN will say. Because the US govt. is not afraid of the UN at all.
