I am going to be driving some co-workers up to LA this after noon...leaving SD at 1:30, meaning we should hit the 5/405 connection at around 3:15-3:30.

Does it get congested at this time, so should I take the CA-73 toll road, or say fuck it and take 5 to the 405?

that Irvine.... you're still 45miles away from LA at that point. meaning.... at 3pm, you will get to LA by 5pm. maybe.
the 73 will not take you past OC. in fact, it will conveniently end where the rush hour traffic begins.
