I dunno, it seems like a safe bet would be about 35% of Americans over the age of 18 would be that dumb/ignorant. The number of people that are just dumb (not knowing basic geometry, geography, ect) will be small be there seems to be a large number of ignorant people around.

See thats what makes me wonder the most. I mean it seams like alot of Americans are ignorant to what is going on arround the world in general and that is the scaryest part of all. Alot of the world population see the american population as unilateral patriotics that will follow everything the government decides. Sometimes questionning the government, but never repremending it when it makes a mistake. It's alot easier to control a population that doesn't know much of the internationnal community using things like terrorism, patriotism, freedom,ect...

Did you not read my post? It's media spin, you can't base a whole population based on a portrayed sample of 10 maybe 15. If the answers were correct they never made it on air and you know that or else their would be no skit. I can make the same video of Canadians and say the same thing with correct editing and formulation of answers. Yes some American's are dumb but that's true of every nation. Go to a country like China and ask them about world politics and see what they know. Not everyone follows world politics or is interested in history.

It would be interesting to pick out 10 Canadian in Montreal and 10 Americans in a comparable city in the USA and put them thru this kind of questionning to see who would answer the best

Yeah Iran and Korea aren't even close to Australia. We should go to war with France though, damn frogs. jk And how come some of them don't know the difference between states in the US and countries? I don't claim to know about everything that's happening in the world or even to be able to name half the countries on the map (Africa and Eastern Europe confuse me) but damn those people were off. I'd atleast have the right continent.

It seems like some of those people only listen to gossip about world events or watch fox news and take what they hear as fact.

The less Americans know the more the govt can do without answering questions.

It's funny, it you watch Jay Leno go Jay Walking and he runs into all kinds of dumb people just like the ones in that video.

In a related note, a while ago i was walking in downtown Sacramento when i ran into a news crew talking to people on the street about some issue. They asked me the question and i said i don't know enough to make an informed statement and they said that's ok just say whatever you think and stuff like that. I said no and walked away because i didn't want to be that dumbass on the tv talking nonsense.
