so the light came on my car cuz the battery died
i got a new battery for it, just drove the car and the light is still on..

Do your lights go dim at night?
Did your vehicle shut off when your other battery died out?

Those are signs the alternator is dying or pretty much dead along with the stereo draining it and wipers or any other electrical item.

If the battery goes completely dead it can hurt it pretty bad but usually if it happens once or twice it won't kill it altogether...but it sure doesn't help it either.

 

I basically didn't drive the car for 2 months cuz the battery died..
but the battery light didn't come on before the battery died.
I was driving w/ the lights on.. and it didn't dim..
So dead battery is bad for the alternator?
I've never had alternator problem before <_< So I have no idea whats going on

 

Yank the alternator and take it down to the local Napa and have them test it for you.

Simple and free and it removes all doubt.

 

the problem is with the first part. yank the alternator out...
