Default PC/Network Gurus Check In!

Our apartment recently had a power outtage for a good hour and now I can't connect to the internet. My one roommate's computer was able to connect but I'm having problems.

What I know so far:
- The computer is receiving and sending information through the network
- None of my internet browsers work
- AIM doesn't work

Thanks guys for the help!

try resetting the router and cable modem by unplugging each for 10 seconds.

if that didn't work ... try connecting a PC directly to the modem and see if that works.

if that didn't work ... call your cable company and ask if there's a service interuption.

I doubt it's a service interuption because my roommate is able to go online. I think it's my network settings?

What IP address are you getting. Try a different port on the router, release and renew address

Go to the command prompt and type the following commands;

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

That should fix you right up.
