Default Excel Question

Is there any way to sum up cells if they're distinguished by color? I have a list made, some of which is in colored cells. I just want to be able to keep a running tally of what's colored and what's not, by having a cell that outputs a number for the colored total. Is this even possible or is there an easier way to do this? I hope my question makes sense. h:

I can't..it's personal. Just imagine a spreadsheet with about 7 columns of data and some of the cells are colored to distinguish them from others.

Excel doesnt natively support formulas with color....

youll have to use the Excel VBA editor and use/make code similar to this: http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm

But use a plus sign instead of a comma

yeh i have a custom formula that turns cell color into some numeric code. then use sumif formula to add it all up. if you need it, lemme know and i'll get it from work.

actually my formula is from "borrowed" from jani's link above.
