Default Golf club ideas

I took my gf to the golf range last weekend and she was really good. She listened to some basic instruction and was hitting the balls solid with a 5 iron and a driver.

Either way she got mad interested and asked for a set of clubs for her b-day (this weekend). Anyway, she doesn't need anything fancy and used would be OK. I would hate to spend more than $100 on a beginner set because she doesn't need anything fancier and I have a load of gifts already bought.

Ebay - its tough to find a reliable set of clubs for $100 inc. shipping I've found an OK set for around $120 and I've made some bids but they've all been bust.

Craigslist - Nothing in either Syracuse or Rochester

Play it Again Sports (local chain) - Nothing either in a set or combined under $100 (they actually have good clubs so its tough to build a cheap beginner set).

Here are "her" requirements:

1. Bag should have a stand.
2. Bag should look feminine

My req's:

1. Oversize driver (and possibly woods)
2. Should include putter and SW
3. At least 8 clubs (but <= 14)

Anyone have ideas aside from the one's mentioned?

Not even joking here: Walmart.

I got my clubs from there, and i've used them for 2 years now with no problem. Huge driver and overall well made clubs for the price. I think i paid like $125 for a full set, irons 2-9 pw, sw, driver 3,4,5 woods, 3,4 hybrid woods.

Do as you may, but at least give them a look.

Yeah Walmart has some decent inexpensive sets under 150 for a beginner.

If you had a Fred Meyer there I would say check them out as well (also known as Kroeger) kind of general all in one type store.

Not sure.

even if you buy a cheapy set you can always buy and replace the more important clubs over time and if she ends up playing enough to warrant it.

I think the used set I bought at Play it Again was 100 with bag and I have been slowly upgrading it when I feel the urge.

Thats exactly what I'm trying to do but I can't keep it under $100 with my requirements. Im a little nervous she wont play after the novelty wears off.

Definitely something that is women specific. They are shorter, lighter, and the grips are smaller. Preferably, get something with graphite shafts as they are much lighter than steel.

But the bag doesn't have a stand.

Good luck hitting your price range for something that will work for her, and have a bag w/stand.

I would say 200 is a much better goal, no offense but you arent gonna get dick for 100 bucks or less.
