they usually go along with whatever you want to take and you dont even need to register for the classes you talk about with the advisor anyways.

same thing here

But instead of a pin they put your account on some kind of "lock" for the first year and you can't register until you go see the advisor

Whenver I gotta chance to, I did. My last year before graduating I took about 12 credits worth in the summer. Look at it this way, you'll graduate sooner.

when i was at CC, i saw advisor a few time. glad i did, cuz that made me pick the right major. at Cal Poly i saw advisor once...only cuz i was required to in order to graduate.

but we were never required to see one before getting a pin to register

I've always done better taking intersession classes since your still in that "school mode." My summer class was the hardest class to go to since your going during a time when you sould be out with friends.

I say if it's an easy BS class like communications or Art appreciation 110 then yes, get it out of the way but if it's something like english or bio, then screw that.
