thats the same thing that happened to me at work
it wont even boot in safe mode

It won't even get to the bios screen. I need to find my knoppix CD but I don't think it's going to work. No beeps or anything.

Ack. No beeps? Sounds like you be the screwed.
I'd got to a PC repair place and have them check it out. Just make sure they don't charge you just for looking at it.

Eh, it's 2+ years old, everything is backed up, and I knew it was falling apart. I will just get a MacBook

Hmm....I used it yesterday actually and I pressed F5 and got the menu with that option, maybe there's more than one button to press.
Doesn't F10 give you the option of system restoration to factory spec?
