Always approach the subject carefully but with tact.
I have always found that if you start with a casual opening like, "Hey dipshit, not sure who you blew to become the boss but with mistakes like this in scheduling you better get back on your knees so you keep that job cuz I'm gunning for your job if you don't".
this tends to break the ice and not cause a confrontational outlook on his part.

Definitely do it with tact.
I did it yesterday to my boss. Our collective boss was asking us if we had been working on something that we were told not to because we were just going to have to do it over again because everything was changing (and I know that my boss had been), and I just looked at our collective boss and said: "Nope, I refuse to do things twice, especially when I am told to not do them in the first place."
My boss was a little miffed with this, but knew he was in the wrong and didn't say shit. But it was funny to watch him stammer in front of the big boss

I would say definatley point it out to him. Just say you were looking over the paperwork and noticed a few discrepencies...:dunno:
If you don't do it, can he come back and blame you for not checking his worK? Thats the story of my life as an admin...the higher ups can blame me for anything that I've checked and I missed (obviously). So I always show them their mistakes whether I was supposed to check it or not!

I often question everything that my supervisor does. Everything from project direction to resource utilization.
I've learned that over the years, you can't do a damn thing about it. You're always 1 second away from being the victim of an unnecessary power trip.
