I have a 2006 specialized rockhopper and that thing is built like a brick shit house. Paid $500 for it though. I used to have a mongoose, spent $250 brand new and it was a POS!

You get what you pay for in Bicycles.

ah. yeh, kestrel makes some sick carbon fiber frames. what felt bike do you have?

that bike's at least 15 years old, and trust me those old-school thumbshifters suckass compared to what they have these days. also since that whole drivetrain is 7 speed, replacement parts are going to be hard to come by, and upgrading the drivetrain to current 9 speed stuff is going to be pretty expensive should anything go wrong with it.

but hell, if you're only spending $50 i guess that doesn't matter much h:

Just the starter F90. It's pretty heavy for a road bike (22 lbs ) but I got it new for $500, and all I really do with it is ride to and from the lab (once in a while a hill climb )
