that style of jazz is too out there for me. I can get into it but I prefer progressive big band like the Maynard Fergson 60-70 big band stuff. almost psudo drum corp style big band style stuff. Malaguna is the ultimate big band blaster chart.

have any of you guys ever listened to the group Chase? It was a group around in the 70s, and it was guitar, bass, drums, and 5 screaming trumpets, and Bill Chase the lead trumpet of the screamers was also the vocalist. They have one song called The River and its crazy. They use an echo chamber on a trumpet solo, its bad ass.

Here's something that will give you the chills. :noes:

Chase's band all died in an airplane crash.

Their first album was called Open Up Wide. Their last album was called Close Up Tight.

:noes:

Check out their song "Get it On". If you like high trumpet w/ 70's funk, you will like it. I don't really consider it jazz though.

Jae - Coltrane is the shit!

My favorite bebop artist is a trumpet player named Clifford Brown. Check him out.

I love "get it on", my college fusion ensemble used all sorts of Chase stuff.

I believe on the song the River he actually predicts his death with the plane crash into a river, and there is some detail about it. kind of errie

I'll have to check out "The River". I've listened to Open Up Wide a lot, but none of their other albums.

Words of wisdom.

I always had a thing for Channel One Suite.
