bad cable. replace the signal cable.
i've seen this a million times when i worked at adaptec. replace the cable even if it is brand new. quality tolerance for sata cables are crap.

Windows Delayed Write Failure = windows lost connection to the drive and couldnt finish writing what was stored in the cache.
happens with usb drives alot that have write caching enabled. with internals, its either a. bad cable or b. bad drive.

it has nothing to do with the caching. also you can't change anything on the drives cache so don't waste your time.

Btw, to those that claimed Maxtor is bad, they aren't so anymore since they're now a part of Seagate with similar 5yrs warranty.
WD is what I'm worrying about since I had couple WD failed on me before.
tweeking the registry will only likely effect cache flushing done by the system not on the individual drive itself. the system can flush the cache 10 times but as soon as it gets to the cache on the drive, the drive will send back a signal back to the OS that the data has been written. in actuality the data is still in the cache of the drive and hasn't been written on the drive yet.
