I almost got robbed
I took my friends accord 5th gen for the free tuneup and I ask them to change the low beam bulb on the headlight. When the service guy gave me the paper to sign, I couldn't believe what I saw. $159 dollars and 43 cents for the freaking bulbs. I don't know how I hold myself and didn't punch the guy.
after I was done with him I went to the parts department and ask how much are the bulbs for a 96 accord, $43+tax.

wait!!!!!!! noooo I didn't let them change the bulb at all. I will go to autozone and get some bulbs when I go pickup the car this afternoon. they told me it will take 3-4 hrs for then to do the tuneup. I was feeling like if he had a gun to my head.
damn I hate the dealers, isn't that Illigal for them to try to overcharge customer. if is illigal in nyc for a cab driver to overcharge then I don't see the difference.

shops set their own prices on parts. to pay a dealer / service shop for the parts obviously your going to pay more than what you could buy them for at a parts store.
they have to make a profit too and they dont make shit for profit on labor. 9 out of 10 times a shop will generally charge twice what the part cost them.
