I believe they should be kept safe until big enough to eat regular size flake food.

argh, i have algae growing in my tank and its only been 1.5 weeks. (i have 5 guppies)

im tihnking throwing an algae eater in there and then let it eat and have it die.

:nono: wtf! why would you have it die? I've found that mine also feeds off bottom leftovers, and you can get algae wafers, plus algae eaters are cool to have around...

if you got algae that quickly, you are 1. overfeeding and/or 2. too close to a window.

Buy a baby pleco and adjust everything else accordingly also

You are definitely overfeeding it if you are having algea problems in a freshwater tank. Cut back.
