i saw the huge smoke column from my parents house about 5 miles north of it. i got on business 80 on my way home at 6:30 and passed right by it. biggest damn fire i've ever seen. they said you could see the smoke as far away as fairfield and auburn.

drove by again this morning and the fire's still going :eek3:

when i first saw the smoke i knew there was too much to be a simple house/building fire so i knew it was something big. just from the general direction i thought maybe a grass fire. as i got closer on the freeway i thought it was a grass fire on the american river parkway cause there's plenty of dry grass down there. when i got on the section of the freeway that runs parallel to the bridge then i saw the train tracks on fire. the sun was just going down too so the flames were very clear through all the shrubs and trees that line the parkway. that sucker was really going. :run:

They were saying you could easily see the smoke from Stockton. I heard it was possibly arson. Looked like it because the whole truss was on fire not just one area.

may well be arson. if it was started by sparks coming off a passing train the nearby grass would've went too. :hsdunno:
