I've had a Westinghouse 22" LCD monitor hooked up to my computer for about 6 months. No problems so far, and my computer games have never looked better. Black levels are bit funky though - I lose details in real dark scenes or games.

720p is the HD standard for network broadcasts. 1080 will be it eventually though.

I dunno. $599 + $20 shipping + no tax where he lives = $619. 1080p + the size upgrade + tax ... just aint cool.

1,275 * 1.08 (tax) = $1,377 vs $619

:dunno:

didn't even factor in the cost of the warranty if he gets it.

$1,377 + ($150 * 1.08) = $1,539

by getting the Westinghouse over the Olevia (smaller, 720p) ... you're throwing down an estimated $920 more.

when 1080p becomes the standard (2, 3 years) $920 can get you another set on top of the Olevia you purchased today.

if you were to take the $920 and put it into a high yield wamu account (5%), after 3 years, you'd be at $1065 ... it'd be like getting the the warranty for free. h:

there's a pretty huge difference between 37" and 42" when you're actually looking at it.

and imo westinghouse/olevia is junk.
