Default HD Player - Need help

I'm thinking of getting a HD player. I've been dying to get some 1080P HD movies on my TV.

What do you guys suggest?

Get one or wait until the format-war resolved?

If get one? Which one? I was thinking of the Sony PS3 since it's the cheapest Blue-Ray player around.

Thanks for the tips guys.

if you do get a player, just make sure it has a console strapped to it for maximum usage. Next gen DVD's really don't look so "next gen" quite yet.

Movies from late 2006 and 2007 should look terrific though.

there was an article published that Blu-Ray now owns anywhere from 63 to 69% of the US market. (mostly due to PS3 sales)

^ I read that article and was leaning toward Blue-Ray.

However, I remembered reading somewhere that there are two new possibilities:

A. A new Universal format will be created (don't remember which one. Can someone direct me to that article)
B. A universal HD player has already made. But that still doesn't resolve the format-war though.

LG's BH100

it's $1200 ... what a joke. :lmao: I'm sorry, for $1200, I'd expect something that doesn't look like my first VCR player.

For 1,200 you can get a 360 + add on ($600) and a PS3 ($600).

Yea, I've seen it, that's a joke for real. I thought of the same thing by getting 2 game systems and have the best of both worlds.

Anyhow, I remembered Christ Webmaster suggested a 1080P Upconverting DVD Player. I wonder how good it is. Surely, it won't be as good as real 1080P source, but will it make a regular DVD a lot better? I have a Zenith 1080i Upconverting DVD player and to be honest, I can't tell a damn difference.

I've seen my friend's movie on 1080P and it's absolutely stunning. I have a tv capable of 1080p, that's why I want the similar experience.

I'd just honestly shell for the PS3 then.

+ HDMI out
+ 1080p games
+ 69% of the market

If the Blu-Ray does fail, you still have a system that's good for another 5 years. (Gran Turismo HD, Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear, etc)

Get the 360 V2 (black, HDMI out, integrated HDDVD) if it arrives in the fall.
