So I am posting some stuff up on eBay for a friend and I have gotten 3 people asking what the buy it now price is. I never listed a buy it now price, but there is a bid on the item.

Is it against eBay rules to sell out from underneath from another guy?

I had people asking to buy my wrecked 240SX for $300-$400 the whole time the auction was running. Ended up going for just over $1,000

 

it's against the rules and bad practice, though nobody can stop you.

the right way: you should be able to modify your listing and add the "best offer" feature. buyers will be able to submit offers for your listing. if you accept, they're obligated to buy.
