My parents don't pay for my school.
The thing that sucks about financial aid is that they consider you dependent upon your parent(s) as long as you're under 23, both parents are alive, and you haven't served in the military.
I own my own house and receive no support whatsoever from my parents, yet I have to include my mom's income on my FAFSA. I bet I could get way more if I didn't have to put her info. on there!
my family has a lot of income, but it barely covers our expenses even without my tuition, so i got barely anything from fafsa. i'm going to have so much debt out of school

yeah however fafsa calculates it is retarded...my dad makes $70k a year, is going through bakruptcy, has a big ass mortgage payment and married a woman with 3 kids, yet it says he can pay $20k a year for my college thats why i file under my mom with zero income
My family has 3 kids in college. I'm in undergrad and so is one of my sisters, last one is in med school. My parents making 90K total could not afford to pay for a mortgage in CA and pay for my schooling and my sisters. Yet it says they can, it is very much retarded, if you were dirt poor you could get money.
