Too soon?
My dog just died two weeks ago. I decided on a whim to go to a shelter... and found a little mutt that I'm completly head over heels for.
Those of you who have lost close pets... do you give it some time.. or jump right back in and open your home to another needy pet?
:happysad: Any other dog I wouldn't even consider.. there's just something about this little guy.

not at all...sometimes its the thing you need to take your mind off the lost pet..
or in my case going out and shooting every fucking fox, coyote, and possum you see hoping one of them was the one that took your pets away the last few days

Yeah.. I'm just torn.. I was so dead set on not wanting another dog after Abe died... cause I knew I could never replace him. But... I know that I never will... and.. well.. sometimes the animals find you.. and ya "just know" I'm probably gonna do it... just have to be sure I'm doing it for the right reasons. And I'm about 99% sure I am... gah...

When our dog of 14 yrs died.....we didn't get our current dog til about 2 years later. I still get memories from time to time when I walk around the house or when I look at my dog. We weren't actually planning on getting another dog, but it needed a home so my mom kept it and i'm glad she did.......we've had it for over a year now

Just keep in mind you're not replacing Abe, you're just making new friends. If you're an animal person, you know you need that around you. Keep your memory of Abe and make a new spot in your home and heart for the new guy. Maybe get all new bedding and bowls though.
