I also believe that GPS units that stick to the dash or hang from the windshield are theft magnets.
And I agree, that's why I take mine down every time I leave the car
And it's great to use while walking around in big cities.

Couple reasons I went with the WRX:
- I could get it cheaper than the MS3 (I could've gotten a TR much cheaper than a MS3)
- AWD means I don't have to chain up while going to Tahoe
- AWD also means it's a lot easier to extract the car out of snow (I drove the car from CO to CA during the big snowstorms that hit CO)
- It's pretty forgiving if you get the tail out
Downsides
- It rattles
- It's not the nicest interior
- Shifter is notchy
