I have one...and a huge collection of movies to go with it...1 (they include king kong with it). HD is not impressive at all and if I had it to do over I would probably pass on it. For games HD is great, for tv it is mediocre and on DVD it is as far from a true theatre experience as you can get.

If you have to be on the edge of technology then by all means buy it, but I guarantee it is not going to live up to the hype and the purchase can wait until it has at least become the standard for movie release agents.

i love HD tv compared to SD tv. i'm not sure why you say it's mediocre for tv. if hd-dvd is anything like hd-tv, i'd be more than happy with it.

what hd-dvd movies do you have?

We Were Soldiers and King Kong that came with it.

I am more about a true theatre experience, as if I was at the movie theatre and HD is everything the theatre is not.

Next time you go to the movies pay attention to the image quality presented on the screen...I mean pay real attention to it. You will note it actually is not the greatest of quality, in fact all the cutting edge people should be whining about how poor it is, but that is a part of the movie experience. The cleaner the image gets at home the further it gets from theatre experience

I was going to say when you were saying theater in your previous post. Theater quality sucks monkey balls. It's very grainy. The sound is good though h:

But the thing is that even though the image is grainy it doesn't detract from the movie at all, in fact a movies merits are judged on it's theatre run and not it's home video presentation.
