My friend just got nabbed for $120 for his license plate covers. Kinda not the same thing, but yeah don't fuck with your plates. They're not stupid.

Where I live the City cops are too busy responding to Homicides to give a shit about Tickets

State Troopers Patrol the bypass

Usually the County Brownies nab you for whatever
