i just started working out 3 weeks ago and just recently started using the elliptical for cardio instead of the treadmill and bike. i busted nuts on the elliptical 2 days in a row, 20 minutes before and after each workout and here it is 2 days later and my calves are hurting, my left worse than my right.
i skipped today but i want to get back at it tomorrow. :hs:

as you probably know...be sure to stretch really well before and after your workouts. That's probably the best thing that I know of that'll help prevent sore muscles. Plus, don't try to do too much too soon. If you put too much stress and strain on your muscles, they're gonna get sore.
Just try stretching for atleast 5-10 minutes before and after you work out.

Right. You probably haven't played any sports.

I think it's funny that people so blindly support theories because that's what they were told.
There fact is that there is no evidence that supports the theory that stretching reduces soreness and the risk of muscle injury.
