Independent Rear Suspension I assume you know how independent suspension works?

Well it's inherent flaw for RWD is that you can't use it for high HP if you want power to the ground for a couple reasons.

First it is basically a CV system so you snap axles like they were candy canes.
Second the ability to use traction control devices such as traction bars has limited effect if you can figure out how to mount one so that it works properly.

Most who are hitting serious numbers swap in a ford 9 inch rear or a D60 (the 9 is preffered) then a new sub frame is built (basically a tube chassis) then the traction devices are installed.

Of course then you run into a small issue of clearance between the mounting and the ground itself, so while building the sub frame you basically have to raise the frame into the body of the car (channeling) in order to clear a ladder bar so that it doesn't scrape if the car hops and you can get a good mount location so maximum leverage is available to eliminate wheel hop.

There is more to it but this is as basic as it gets for a quick understanding.
