my 2 cylinder gets to 60 in less than 4 seconds without any thought at all. the 4cyl takes about another 4 seconds.

I have a 4-cylinder that goes from 0-60 in 3.6 sec and has gone about 164 mph... Yes, I believe it can be necessary.
