speaking from experience here...

the buy up parts over time method blows.... you buy parts and later can't justify the cost of another part and end up with a closet full of second-hand parts that are worth half what you bought them for. Save up the money until you can afford everything you need, THEN buy.

These days there's quite a few traction control methods that produce results. The AEM EMS has a great setup that involves ignition retard and ABS intervention. For the few that can actually dial-in this feature, 10-11sec Hondas on street tires have been the result.

Launching n/a and turbo cars are quite different, I found that having a healthy top-end can make up for the ground loss in the initial launch.
