your employer isn't holding enough from your checks.

Tell your boss to take more out of each of your checks...then you'll get money back. :doh:

about 25% of my gross gets withheld.

i have no dependents or special exemptions. i'm single.

yeah, if you don't get a refund it just means that you're netting more money per check throughout the year.

a tax refund is nothing more than a loan you give to the government and get paid back every year.

ideally, you'd like to owe the government for taxes at the end of the year. however, if you owe more than 1000$, you'll have to make estimated tax payments for the next year.

i am expecting a 3500$ refund this year. i'm getting money back that should have been mine in the first place. it could have been sitting in my bank account accruing interest, but instead the government got an interest free loan at my expense.
