I don't see the point in answering with much else because anyone asking that is just making passing conversation and could give a shit less if your left nut just fell down your pantleg and into your shoe.

If I was walking in the foyer where I work and pass someone-if I am not going to stop and talk then I smile and I may give a little wave or a simple Hey!
If I have a lot in common and free time then I stop and greet with good morning/noon/ night! Blah Blah -
