Wow someone's looking to make a quick buck after the fact. If it didn't kill her, then let it be. We already have enough people fearing lawsuits so they won't do their job: police officers, paramedics, doctors, and various other professions.

yeah, the lawsuit is totally bullshit.

"She always said, `On the left side it feels like there's something there. It felt like something moved,'" Valle's daughter, Jeanne Clark, said in 2004.
liar.

my fiancee observed a gastric bypass yesterday. she said that the surgeons were constantly counting their equipment throughout the surgery to make sure that everything was accounted for at all times.

along with a few other measures, she told me that the towels they used to soak up any blood also had "flags" attached to them so that once the towels got completely saturated with blood, they wouldn't be missed.

without these measures, she agrees it'd be pretty easy to accidentally leave something behind.

This happens ALOT!!! They're trying to implement a barcode inventory system for all materials used in surgery.

One guy had a 6 inch stainless steel rod left in his chest!!! He walked away with MILLIONS>

barcode, smart.

I can see that working pretty well. Log inventory before surgery and after.

btw, I saw that you called me last night. Sorry I didn't pick up, I wasn't feeling all the great and went to bed early

seems like RFID would be an even better option. besides checking that everything is accounted for you directly check that nothing is inside them.

this happens from time to time, most of the time the hospital will settle out of court.

I remember on Montell Williams show this lady had like a 8" flat steel thing from her hip to upper chest for a few yrs before they found out what it was. And it wasn't even the doctors that found it, it was a chiropractor who ran a xray and told her lol.
