Why would you do that? Run a winch long enough and it is nice to have a deep cycle that charges back up in 15 minutes, you can also mount them upside down if you need to and in mny cases if you are wheeling hard enough you are bound to end up on your lid or on your side.

I run dual red tops in my rig

:werd: Optima's are good battery's. I've always used the Yellow Top, never weakened at all.

red tops are fine
ive had one in my durango for about 5 years

the "yellow top's" are defective pos IMO
and Optima won't do anything about it


i went though three "yellow tops" in 2 years

Then you must have some kind of issue in your charging system because I have run redtops with no issue, yellow tops with no issue and blue tops with no issue. All have been drained or close to it and recharged just fine and still hold their charges like they should so I dunno what you speak of as far as defective goes.
