Default College minor... worth it?

My scenario is that after this spring (2007) semester I'll be nine credits short of gradating. However, I am currently listed as Mass Communications (Journalism Major) with an Electronic Media and Film minor.

For my minor I need 9 more credits, which is another semester in my book, since I am not doing an 18 credit semester on top of the school paper (which is more than a full time job).

I am wondering if I even need my minor or if I should just say fuck it and drop it and just graduate?

I was thinking I may drop my one EMF class I have this semester, and add another Journalism course and see what I feel like doing after the semester. I can always finish the 9 credits I have left for my Journalism Major in the fall and then decide if I need another semester and/or internship before graduating.

Anyone have any insight?

Do you work?

18 Credit semesters are not that hard. I was at like 17 every semester and had time to do more.

I am the photo editor and senior staff photog for the campus newspaper, which is a bi-weekly that puts out 12,000+ copies.

I shoot 95% of all the assignments, plus write articles. I work over 40 hours a week, so, it's kind of tough to take anything more than 12 creidts.

Same difference.... almost. You left out a job. I am shooting assignments 7 days a week, Wednesday and Sunday are production days (12+ hours), plus I have all writing courses, plus writing for the paper. On top of I commuting 30-mins each way.

I would love to not work for the paper, school would be a breeze without anything else to do.

I dont think its worth it. Especially if you will be getting a Masters at some point.

Depends why you're doing your minor. If you like your minor, then keep it. If not, then drop it. Minors don't make you more marketable.
