Anyone ever go through this *unauthorized magazine charges to CC*
So you know how we all run into these "free" magazine deals or ones that are heavily discounted. So I was looking through my statement online and I got a charge for $46. Next to the charge was my billing ID and "Newsweek" and then a phone number. I remember signing up for Newsweek for a really discounted price with my credit card. I'll admit that I did not read the fine print if there were any.
So I called my credit card telling them what happened. "Jason" suggested that I call the number they supplied. I did, obviously it was closed. Then I went to the website and tried the "contact us" link...after entering all my information, the "submit" button leads to an invalid URL. So then I google the phone number. It brings to me a page full of complaints from people in the same situation that I am in. I plan to call back Monday to get it settled...if not, then I am letting my bank settle it.
I just want to know what to expect. And just remind people to read the fine print...if there are any :uhhok:

I had that happen to me with Sports Illustrated... Apparently I was suppose to call them to cancel the subscription after the 12th issue sent to me  I assumed that it would just cancel itself after the 12 free issues h:
EDIT:
I called them up, told them what was up, they credited the money back to me h:

I'll pay $8 for a year of Newsweek, but not $46. :uhhok:

I've actually gotten fraud-type debt collection mailings from them before. It would say somewhere to "CALL NOW TO QUALIFY!!" and I'm thinking "qualify for what?" The supposed "company" trying to collect was American Publishers Outlet or something - I threw it in the trash.
