you can but we buy the names from godaddy. so you might as well register it through godaddy it would be the same thing.

 

Register on godaddy.com or registerfly.com

Hosts, there are a TON out there. Watch for people that oversell, this is where you get a ton of space and bandwidth for really cheap. People that come to mind are dreamhost.

 

1and1 has cheap domain and hosting for personal sites.

dreamhost has 200GB space and 2TB transfer for $10/mo

 

Dreamhost is no different than others. You have to oversell, you'd never break even if you actually had enough already reserved for everyone.

I think they are great and have recommended several people to them.

But I would agree, register with godaddy.com (make sure to click the 50 NO THANKS buttons or you'll signup for $500/month worth of crap. Other than that they are awesome)

 

1and1 is horrible they dont even own their own servers. we have customers come from 1and1 all the time and dreamhost. but i will give it to dream host they are good, as we are too.
