hdmi vs component cables for HD
is there any difference between the two? i just ordered a new hdtv and was wondering if i should bother using hdmi cables from my hd cable box, or if component cables would do the same job? also does hdmi carry the audio too?

not really.
the only difference is that HDMI carries the digital audio signal as well. Picture quality should be equal.

if you do end up getting an hdmi cable, please get it from Newegg, and not Bestbuy, you'll save at least $70

the 28 gauge isn't the thickest, but if you're going under 10 feet, you won't even notice a diff.
it's the core that's most important.
I ordered an HDMI to DVI cable last week from these guys. I got a delivery confirmation number within minutes.
