Default So I want to buy an acoustic guitar today.

I have been meaning to for a while and I totally forgot to put one on my wish list for Christmas but I just really want to do it now especially after I saw the vid of Andy Mckee that Nightshade posted (https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=258741)

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good beginner guitar that's not too expensive?

You can get a decent beginner for $100-150. I've seen some decent Ibanez's in that range, Takamine, etc. Just don't get some no name brand for $40 and you'll be ok.

Thanks Brett. I saw this ad for a used one locally for $60 but I have no clue if Hohner is a good brand: http://albany.craigslist.org/msg/253435350.html

Get the Estaban package on ebay. On HSN it sold for $240 but you'll probably pay $300+ for it which is still a good deal. Comes with a ton of stuff and I saw him play it. It was awsome.

What is your price range?? There are MANY beginner options out there.

I'd suggest ordering from MusiciansFriend.com

Well, I was hoping to spend less than $100 but I could go as much as $150.

Edit: I think I found a good one on the site you recommended. It got great reviews: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...515366/rpp=10/

Yea....although that was the black one there was one that was nicely painted and stuff but that's a really great price. For beginner I don't see anything wrong with buy that one. It's acoustic and electric too.

under 100:

100 - 200

FYI, (if you didn't know) Epiphone is Gibson's lower end name....
Other nice ones: Washburn, Ibanez, Yamaha, Takamine, & Fender.

If you are serious about learning to play, I'd shoot for the 150 range. you can get some very decent acoustics in the 150-200 .

Check out a guitar shop, they can help you make a selection that's right for you. You also get to check out the action of the guitar, the feel of the instrument, if it's too hard to play right off the bat you won't enjoy it and it's harder to learn.
