It's actually not as expensive as it has been, it's harder to find them than anything else.

2nd and 3rd gear do not get proper lubrication and they overheat and eventually the transmission fails.

Honda recalled it and installed squirters to those gears but it still will eventually fail. It's just a bunk design.

Problem is they tried to take a gearbox made for a 4-cylinder and use it on a car with V6 torque.

oh, I know all about it. one of my accounts was the local acura dealership, so I got to hear people bitch about it all day long. plus, my dad has a '00 Av6 sedan, so he got his class-action notice in the mail.

I thought it was first gear that was overheating :dunno: but yeah, I know they used the 4-banger gearbox. bad thinking, but what auto company doesn't fuck up....

depends on the cost

6th gen Av6 + cl-s tranny > 7th gen Av6 w/ 6spd stock

if the above statement is true, there are some serious morons out there.

personally, I'd shoot for the 7th gen.

but frankly, the auto thats stock does just fine.

There is also a weight difference between the two that is quite significant. This lends itself to the responsivness of the car.

As the generations progressed the Accord has becone a bloated pig.

I agree. I'm not a big fan of the 6th gen Accords after owning one myself. I wouldn't mind a 7th gen Coupe V6 with the 6MT, but for the money I'd buy something else.

And am. :hsugh:

400 lbs isn't that big of a difference :dunno: especially when they bumped up power.

I rather rock a 7th gen, but I'd get a 7th gen civic before I got the accord.
