Default Wireless information. GURUS!!!

So at the house out here I can pick up a signal. My parents are paranoid and think it is illegal to be using their connection. I think that it is up to the host to make it secure or not.

My other question is is there something that they can buy to like "jump" or extend the signal?

You mean like a repeater? Yeah. I set one up at my parents house because he had this wireless access point laying around. However I know for this one (Linksys WAP54G) you have to input the correct MAC address from the original router/point to sync them up.

That's what I was afraid of. Do you know if there is a way to find out what they have and possibly even their MAC address?

I don't know about non-Linksys setups, but if they're dumb enough and have their router interface accessible from http://192.168.1.1, you can go in there and take a gander at their settings. :rick: Hell, while you're at it secure it under your own username/password!

Awwwwww boo. Can't help you there. Does your parents house completely lack broadband? Just go out and buy a wireless router and return it at Fry's!
