Default So I was thinking in the shower again.

What exactly is the point of adding your CITY / STATE and the zip code????

I mean the zip code will tell you what city and what state the address is in...and be more detailed about. So what is the point of writing in your city / state / AND zip code? I would think your street address and zip code would be enough

What if you misprint one of the numbers on the zip code? Then the postal service has nothing else to confirm the destination. There would be more returned mail.

Just extra assurance, many Americans have horrible hand writing.

I agree... Another outdated system, I'm sure it has roots back in the days when mail shipped via train, and the final carriers rode horses.

I'm tired and couldn't think of any better way of explaining it.h:

Do you always think of this stuff while in the shower?

Yeah, it's all for better routing. I work for DHL. City/State/Zip is required for all domestic shipments.

some zipcodes cross city lines. mine, 46227 is part of Indianapolis along with most of Homecroft and Southport.

But yes, I too hate having to put my city-state in a bloody form when they also ask for the zip which should take care of it.

Yea i know my old home town we use to share the same zipcode as the next town over. The only way to tell the difference was by the city.
