Default i need some feedback on first gen Acura CL's

im in the market for a used car and i like the CL's, however after browsin a CL forum i found out they are notorious for havin tranny problems.

theres a 97 3.0 w/ 144k in my area for $4k

should i stay away from it?

also, does anyone know what color interior this CL comes with?

Get a 2.2 or 2.3CL and swap in an H22. It's a simple swap and nobody does it.

They're basically Accords in a different shell. My friend had one, not too shabby. Tranny problems are common with any of the Honda V6 motor of those years.

I don't know. 144K is up there for an original transmission. They're a couple thousand dollars to replace, I'd rather get the 4-cylinder model with the 5-speed.

Watch for rust, the 1st gen CL's still have Honda's classic 1/4 panel problems.

Those transmissions overheat due to poor lubrication. Beating on them or not, they'll still fail prematurely.

Yep they are Accords on a slightly newer chassis. I believe the tranny issue is the same the 5th and 6th gen Accord V6 is known for. If memory serves it is the same tranny in fact.
