like in japan in the mid to late 90's, honda's cost just as much (think ITR's and CTR's) as many nissans, toyotas, etc that had way more power and different drivetrain layouts. honda's did sell, but just werent as popular.

its similar to the honda guys. many people shell out a goood chunk of change on lets say an rsx-type s, when for the same money you can get other cars with much more power and other sorts.
needless to say, the chevrolet community is HUGE and their devotion to the bowtie is deeper than most can fathom. hence, people buying the z06 for 70k, and then some.

it's also the fact that this 70k car can rock pretty much everything in and alot above it's class in almost every category. it's not nicknamed the super-car killer for nothing. keke
