i actually know a kid who pulled that and got away.
he was driving his car drunk down at college, put it in a ditch, did a good amount of damage...no one was around so him and his buddy left...next morning he reported it stolen... insurance covered it all.
dude is a big douche and i wish he woulda got busted, drives around trashed all the time. ive known him to drive 2 hours from college to home drunk

he was drunk, wrecked his truck, tried to pull a quick on and say it was stolen.
the story didn't hold. I dunno if he got dropped or not.
