in this day & age of the digital world, that i can make a purchase w/ my credit/check card & the $$$ INSTANTLY comes out of my account, yet when i return something, it takes days for my money to be back in my account????

i guess what i'm getting at is let's say i goto bestbuy & buy something. they run my card & the purchase IMMEDIATELY takes the $$$ out of my account.
now let's say i return that item.....they now have possession of the item, so why isn't it possible for my $$$ to be debited back to my account IMMEDIATELY??? i mean come on, it's all just an electronic debit & credit. seems like if they can move the $$$ one way instantly they should be able to move it back the same......

It's possible. But like everything, there is a reason.
