just cuz 20 people or a million people do something doesnt necessarily make it right.
racial jokes are an accepted form of racism... we criticize and point out weaknesses or stereotypes of another race....may be funny, the mexican may laugh at the mexican joke but its wrong

it takes an edge to be big in entertainment. you have to be something different. and again, although his act is nothing new, per se, he does make alot of good points, he brings up alot of funny truths, and the generalizations he makes aren't usually so far off.
its he 100%? no way. I still think chapelle is better at the whole thing.
but he's the only one right now, or at least the biggest name still active.

getting lucky and finding your niche != talent.
you can find plenty of examples of this beyond carlos menstealia in hollywood nowadays.
menstealia aka ned holness lucked out because comedy central was reeling from the loss of chappelle and they needed someone the void. chappelle's fans needed someone to fill the void too, and when menstealia was shoved down their throats, they ate it up.
so again, he lucked out. he was in the right place at the right time.
one more time, this does not equal talent. it's just a pity that people keep watching that thief and giving him props when he doesn't deserve any. they're just feeding the beast.

sitting around with your buddys (assuming you don't exclusivly hang out with your race) and cracking a few racial jokes is not racist.
mencia just does it on a larger scale.
you see, most of this country has racial problems. here in san antonio, we don't. its 56% hispanic, 7% black, 2% asian, and 34% white. when I hang out with my car friends, I'm usually the only white person there.
so maybe you're right in your part of the country, but here its different for the better. so thats why I feel how I do.

no, calling a mexican a wetback and not promoting him because he's mexican and doing things because he's mexican (or shit, you shouldn't even be calling him mexican. its latin-american, hispanic, etc), those are racist.

edit: im just more against the public racial joke telling more than anything....its a double standard. as a white person i would be lynched if i told half the jokes mencia did simply because im white. want to tell them to your buddies in private? fine. but lets not use racist comments and observations as a way to get money and then cry foul when someone who is *gasp* a different race tries using the same methods to make money

sometimes I joke with my hispanic friends that they need to do a better job cutting my grass. its no different from some people on here saying the asian guys have short wangs (which I see people talk about endlessly).

we have 5 militarty bases here.
we have a majority hispanic population.
the city is dual-culture (white/hispanic, since they make up the majority).
sure, there's racial tension. but nothing like LA, NY, philly, or any other top-ten city (population-wise, and not metropolitan area).
you ever visit here? then don't fucking talk about it.
open ur eyes look around, gurantee if you tried you could start seeing it all around you. it permeates alot of our society.
