Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – James Carncross has been found guilty of speeding on a motorcycle, leading State Trooper Craig Todeschini on a chase that ended with his death.
Carncross was found guilty on two charges, reckless driving and aggravated criminally negligent homicide, and found not guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the 2nd degree.
In April, State Police Trooper Craig Todeschini died while chasing a speeding motorcycle in Pompey, when his SUV crashed into a tree.
The verdict was read just before 7:30pm Wednesday, after 9 ½ hours of deliberations.
Judge William Walsh set the sentencing date for Januray 10th. Carncross could face 5 to 20 years in prison.
Three times durign the day, jurors asked Judge Walsh to re-read portions of his instructions and some of the charges against Carncross.
Earlier, the jury asked Judge Walsh if they have to deliberate past 5pm, he said no. They then asked if they could deliberate past 5pm, he said yes.
In the morning, jurors received instructions from Judge Walsh, and started deliberating at about 10 am.
Closing arguments in the trial wrapped up late Tuesday afternoon.
It took an hour and forty minutes for James Carncross’ attorney, Sal Piemonte, to complete his closing arguments.
Moments later, Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick began his closing arguments, which lasted about twenty minutes.
Jury selection in the case started last Monday, and testimony started last Tuesday.

there is no pity on actions which injure, yet alone KILL, an officer.
i didnt want to go there.. but i felt the same way. it is his fault that the cop began to chase him though
they also didnt know who was being chased for like three or four days.. josh mustve opened his mouth to someone, or rode his bike again. i doubt he actually came out and turned himself in
