I'm sure most of you people out there with decent phones know about this already, but Google has a Google Maps Java midlet you can download to your phone and is pretty solid.

Point your phone's web browser to http://www.google.com/gmm/index.html. It will give you a couple options including Google Maps. It may have a version specifically set up for your phone, or it may give you a message saying,

"Google Maps may not work on your phone. If you'd still like to try, download Google Maps for a high-end phone or a mainstream phone," with links on the high-end or mainstream.

I have a Cingular 3125 Windows Mobile phone that there is not a phone-specific version for. I tried the "high-end phone" option thinking this is a Windows Mobile phone, I want the features, blah blah blah. It worked briefly but then got clogged and stopped working. I uninstalled then went back for the "mainstream phone" version which has worked flawlessly. YMMV on which version works for you.

I would only recommend trying it if your phone has QVGA (320x240) resolution or better, otherwise you will not get much of anything on the screen. It does use up a lot of data so this is only for unlimited data plan folks. If you have one of those 5 MB per month plans you'll kill it pretty quick. Enjoy.
