I'm still young and i don't know the actual differences besides if i switch to claiming myself, less money will be taken out. My Economics teacher said that its a waste to receive a hefty refund every year.

it depends...

if your parents will get more in their refund claiming you then let them claim you. otherwise claim yourself as independant

I'm a dependent and I couldn't tell you the difference I was just being an ass :hs:

However, I have always been told to even it out so that you don't get anything back nor do you need to pay h:

They can claim you as long as they're providing care for you, no matter what age.

Care? Like health care/dental or overall (housing, food etc...)

Is there a certain number they can claim?
