they prolly did it partially so that the yankees wouldn't get him. they're prolly sick of the yankees scooping up their great players and interests.

the japanese players tend to be more humble than the american stars. i'm sure he'll get a nice car. but i wouldn't bet on a lambo, ferarri, or a blinged out anything. at least not for a while.

yeah, the guy doesn't get any of that money, it goes to his team. so it'll effectively make the guy worth $51 million plus whatever he actually gets. crazy.

yeah but CNN also fails to mention the 51 mil isn't for a 1 year deal, while the Marlins and D-rays salary totals are yearly.

Right. But it's still crazy that the Bo-Sox are paying 51 million up front, + whatever the guy's yearly salary is, for 1 pitcher. The same money could pay for 2 MLB teams entire yearly payroll.

I'm sure that 51 mil is a very large portion of his overall salary.
