just a reminder to check your laptop battery for recalls[vid]
yeah, i wonder how a safe battery would react sitting on a griddle like that.
seems a bit misleading, but obviously there is a problem. thanks again, sony.
edit > actually, it wasn't even a recalled battery.
bravo, you proved that batteries under immense heat can and will explode.

that's like if i were to add some dramatic fading captions to a video of a car crashing into a wall, "the following is an example of what would happen if your brakes were to fail..." yeah? no shit.
most people dont know or havent seen a battery cell explode.
there are hundreds of crash tests performed each year, don't these crash tests basically say "this is what will happen when this happens..."
of course this is model specific, but cars are more complex then batteries, all batteries are primarily the same thing, they use most of the same components, if not very, very similar ones.
A lot of people don't know how violent an chain-reaction can occur in a battery pack,, they might try to do something just to have cell #2 explode in their face.

basically kind of like how some people see their car steaming from the radiator so they open the cap to try to put water in it
this is a theoretical situation, and it's there to represent what may happen if a battery were to explode---
ok, so i admit that it's cool to just see it explode, but honestly, it's also good to know exactly what happens. of course you can be told that the battery can explode like that, but until you actually see it i doubt any of us knows exactly how violent the explosion can be
